Drivability Issues
Performance Drivability Issues
Who hasn’t experienced drivability issues at least some time in their driving career? Now in a normal car that's one thing and we can expect it, but when you’re in your hotrod that's another thing altogether. Theses’ cars are our personal babies, actually like part of the family and the last thing we want is not trust them. Most of the issues that plague classic cars are a by-product of too many nonprofessionally skilled techs’ that have work on them over the years. The sad part is you might be the recipient of one of those types of cars and that’s really not a big issue, it just requires us to look the car over and give you some direction with your concerns.
Here are a few issues that could create drivability issues.
- Engine Performance- Poor engine tune, idling issues, hesitation, misfire, lack of power, mismatched engine parts, internal mechanical engine problems, electrical, cooling system, fuel system, basic adjustments, ignition, noise, vacuum leaks
- Suspension- Steering, vehicle ride height, shock rates, handling, noise, traction, overall vehicle control
- Cooling- Cooling system leaks, overheating, to small of radiator, low speed cooling issues, wrong fan, cooling system not engineered correctly for car in general
- Exhaust- Exhaust leaks, restrictions, sound, overall design
- Transmission- Shift points, converter stall speed, slippage, lack of engine power
- Brakes- Lack of braking performance, hard pedal, spongy pedal, low pedal, no rear brake action, vacuum leaks, mechanical failure, fluid leaks, booster, dragging brakes, leaking seals onto brakes
- Axle Differential- Wrong gear ratio, worn parts, posi-clutch failure
